The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority is responsible for the safe arrival of seafaring passengers and the handling of cargo and sea operations.
The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) was established in 1990 as a separate corporate entity owned by the Government of the Virgin Islands. It began operations in January 1991, taking over functions previously managed by the Ports and Marine Services Department. The Authority is governed by a Board and managed by a team overseeing various departments including Administration, Business Development, and Marine Operations. BVIPA aims to provide superior seaport facilities and services, focusing on customer and employee satisfaction. It is affiliated with several regional organizations, including the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association and the American Association of Port Authorities.
