Gibraltar Port Authority

The Gibraltar Port Authority, established in 2005, operates at a key maritime location, facilitating around 240 million gross tonnes of vessel calls annually. It is recognized as the largest bunkering port in the Mediterranean, handling approximately 60,000 vessels each year. The Authority's mission is to enhance navigational safety and efficiency in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters (BGTW) through its Vessel Traffic Services (VTS), which has been operational since 2011. The VTS operates 24/7, utilizing advanced technology such as radar and thermal imaging to monitor vessel movements and ensure safety. The Port Authority also manages port security, pollution prevention, and search and rescue operations, aiming to provide a safe and efficient environment for all maritime activities.
